Are these increasing post covid fungal infections blocking our rays of hope!!!??

Whenever a body is enfeebled by any disease , it takes away everything... whether it's economy or mental peace or well being of the family, everything seems like a slope of ice sliding from its peak and everything is  just engaged in saving the lives of their loved ones.

Family start behaving like medicine, named 'family medicine', it's not an injection or tablet which helps to separate the disease from person, moreover its the positivity, togetherness and the bond which helps in keeping one's spirit strong!!!

In the current state of affairs where COVID-19 is upsetting to take the throne a new assistant joins to take up the lead . It is 'mucormycosis' commonly referred as black fungus along with various variants like white fungus and yellow fungus which are now preparing themselves to take the lead. It is epidemic in pandemic.

It's now important to know and become aware of everything related to these infections. Unlike COVID-19 we can't take threat to our lives. So, it's better to become aware from today itself rather than waiting for the climax of pandemic named drama. Because it's always and truly said that The first step towards change is awareness and second is acceptance!!!

Here are some of the awareness providing and literal points that you must know to aware yourself:-

  • Let's take a brief look on our sarcastic new guest who is playing a new Irony in these hard times:-

  • The causes of all these three types of fungal infections , i.e., black fungus, White Fungus & yellow fungus are  almost the same:-

  • Why these fungal infections are occurring in COVID patients???:-

  • Who are at risk because of these fungal infections??

  • However, these three major fungal infections are distinguished on the basis of different symptoms:-
    1. Black Fungus:-
    2. White Fungus:-
    3. Yellow Fungus:-

  • However, It's a sigh of hope that to prevent all three fungal infections, one needs to follow same rules:-

  • A lot of questions are also coming in our mind that is making us anxious and fearful. Let's take a look on some of them:-

1. How is Black fungus related to COVID-19?

Ans. Black fungus is caused by mucormycetes- a set of microorganisms seen mostly in soil and decaying organic matter. Normally, a person with good immunity successfully fights with fungal infections. But as it is know that a person loses its immunity if he's tested positive for COVID-19 and hence somehow it open doors for fungal infection.

*It is not necessary that every person tested positive for COVID-19 will get infected by Mucormycosis. It is uncommon for those not having diabetes.*

2. Will Black fungus spread from one person to another?

Ans. No... It does not spread from one person to another . It is caused by indiscriminate use of steroids and antibiotics during treatment of Corona virus. And also through infected pipes and prongs used for supply of oxygen.

3. Which specialist do I visit for Black fungus?

Ans. ENT and eye specialist are central to this disease. The team includes care coordinators with neurosurgeon endocrinologist and microbiologist.

4. I have recovered from COVID 2-3 weeks back!! But there's some redness, pain and water in my eyes, is this normal after covid?

Ans. Generally, patients getting dry eyes during COVID recovery and it is making their eyes red.

But the one who were  severely affected and have received steroids can have infection in the back part of their eyes. In this situation, consult eye specialist as soon as possible.

We just discussed the epidemic that is acting as a Catalyst for COVID. However, from the information that we just discussed above, it is clear that the credit to the rise of these infections only goes to us "Humans."
So, as a matter of fact if we try we can evade this catalyst as well.
After all, "the only way to get happiness is to spread happiness."
So, it is up to nobody but only us to help our fellow human beings in these difficult times by giving the right information and spreading some positivity.
